The flight of the raindrop

Thursday 4 April 2013, 4pm

My holiday umbrella got a proper work-out today and it’s still raining (in an orderly London-style measure). As Greg just pointed out, this is the kind of weather that makes people crowd together in basements to make great music. Well, I’m sitting here with a peppermint tea and something called a spinach cheese dumpling (although my idea of dumplings varies greatly), watching the rain pour down and big American cars go by.

I’m on my way to the Seattle Art Museum, though I’m not sure they’ll be open past 5. We’ll see… Ah, the tour guide my lovely brother gave me for my last birthday confirms it’s open till 9 on Thursdays. See, everything works out perfectly! … AND I’m managing to walk there without looking at a map. Check me out!

On the way I’ll have to watch out for a post box, as the one close to Greg’s house was run over last week. There seems to be a serious shortage of post boxes in Seattle but I will prevail!

I’ve just watched a cutesy film in the IMAX – The Flight of the Butterflies. It was included in my ticket for the Pacific Science Center, and with the weather being as it is, I thought why not. It was a lovely 3D movie about the Monarch’s journey through America and close friends won’t be surprised there were tiny tears involved 🙂

So, today is more or less a melancholy state of affairs. I can’t help getting more and more a dread of next Monday when I’m stepping on that damned plane back home. And I hear it’s snowing in London! :O At least there will be good friends and some cuddles waiting for me; let’s focus on the positive sides! 🙂
